Upgrading legacy phone systems to the latest VoIP system

The client and their brief – Upgrading to a VoIP system

Alan Day VW is a well-known car dealership with numerous branches across London. They employ over 200 people and operate from three sites in North London and one in the City. They contacted Icom to update their legacy telephone systems and replace them with a VoIP system in each of their branches.

The Icom approach

After extensive research, the Icom engineers chose the Mitel system as the best option for the Alan Day VW branches. We worked closely with the client to agree on the system details, IP handsets, peripheral equipment and configuration.

After installing the new systems, we networked them using the customer’s Wide Area Network, a cost-effective option.

The whole installation comprised of:

  • Three Mitel 3300 systems, networked together via VoIP,
  • A 12-agent Contact Centre with Wallboard at the head office,
  • Call loggers for each site,
  • IP Desk terminals,
  • IP DECT phones.

The Results

The new systems have greatly improved internal branch-to-branch communications. The Alan Day VW teams have found the new Call Logging and Voicemail system to be much easier to use than their old one. The Call Centre application has improved call handling, resulting in more calls being answered quicker and providing them with invaluable statistics.
